Protect Your Family from Cold & Flu Naturally & Effectively with Essential Oils

It’s that time of year again, kids are back in school, germs and viruses are spreading like wildfire, and everyone is getting sick. What can be worse than vomiting, chills, coughing, headache, runny nose, and a sore throat? Having to take care of your entire family and yourself with these symptoms. So instead of coming down with these symptoms, let’s prevent them or at least help them go away naturally, toxic free, and effectively with essential oils. I have firsthand experience that this blend works and it works really well. I woke up the morning I was leaving for a vacation to Montana with a sore throat and runny nose out of nowhere. Our little two year old boy must have brought something back from daycare. Right away I got out my book a.k.a. essential oil bible and researched what I could do to relieve symptoms and immediately make them go away. So I came up with my “Protect Your Family from Cold & Flu!” essential oil recipe. I used it and noticed right away that the oils were helping a lot to get the virus out of my body and making me feel better. And on a side note, the blend smells amazing; I’m in love with it! Here is the recipe below and some of the facts about why I chose to use these certain oils.

Basil: Is used extensively in Asian Indian medicine. It is a powerful antispasmodic, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and muscle relaxant. It is also used to treat migraines, throat/lung infections and even insect bites. When inhaled it fights mental fatigue.

Cinnamon: Listed in Europe’s authoritative guide to medicines, cinnamon is highly antiviral, powerfully antibacterial, antifungal and a stomach protectant. It is used to treat infectious diseases, viral infections (including herpes, etc.), ulcers and warts.

Eucalyptus: Often used to treat respiratory/sinus infections and arthritis. Eucalyptus is a decongestant, is highly antiviral and antibacterial, and soothes sore muscles. When inhaled it promotes health, well being, purification, and healing.

Oregano: Is a powerful antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, antioxidant, immune stimulant, and a liver protectant.

Peppermint: Is one of the oldest and highly regarded herbs for soothing. It is extremely antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic. It is used to treat respiratory infections, viral infections, cold sores, headaches and nausea. When inhaled it is purifying and stimulating, it improves mental alertness and helps attention, performance, and focus.

Fill up a roller ball container 3/4 of a way with the fractionated coconut oil, add basil, cinnamon, eucalyptus, oregano, and peppermint essential oils. Apply to soles of feet, back of wrists, or stomach. You may notice a slight redness/itchiness on your skin which is totally fine; it is just from the cinnamon. I personally really like how it feels on my skin, but if you don’t then you can omit the cinnamon. To prevent cold and flu apply it morning and night. If you are already feeling symptoms then apply every 2 hours for a quick recovery. Obviously, drink plenty of fluids and take your natural vitamin C. I hope you use this for you and your family’s wellness plan. Here’s to a natural healthy well being!
